Sixth Form

History A Level

Subject: History

Hours taught per fortnight (KS5): 9

Our KS5 History curriculum aims to build on students’ prior knowledge of British and world history and to extend their knowledge right up to the present day. The course provides an opportunity for pupils to deepen their knowledge of the key economic and political developments in America and Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries and to perfect the source handling and interpretation skills developed at Key Stages 3 and 4. The curriculum is enhanced by a rich and broad range of wider reading that encourages students to read and engage with written texts like academic historians, preparing them for higher education. The curriculum is further supported by opportunities to visit sites of historic importance locally, nationally and internationally.
