Dear Parents and Carers
As the summer holidays seem to be approaching at a startling speed, our thoughts turn to next year. I have had conversations with many of you over the past months and years about how parents and carers can help to support the college to ensure it is an amazing place for young people to learn and grow into young adults. You will know that time and money are hard to come by in education these days and I believe that establishing a Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) for The Spires College would help address both of these shortfalls.
It is my hope that a PTFA could provide more than just fund-raising (although this is always very welcome!) A school should be about far more than the five hours of lesson time that students get each day. In these formative years, we want as many of our students to engage with as many and as varied a range of enriching experiences and opportunities as possible, and the more help we have with this, the more we can offer.
Therefore I would like to establish a PTFA here at the college and am hoping that lots of you will be keen to get involved. Initially I am seeking to gauge levels of interest and then we would need to establish the purpose and protocols of the Association. We can then move forward with formalising the group and its membership.
Initially, I would like to invite all interested parties (parents, carers, grandparents, staff… the more, the merrier) to a meeting on Wednesday 3 July at 6pm. This will allow us to decide on the aims of the PTFA and set up meetings going forward.
I’d be grateful if could let know if you are planning to attend on 3 July by emailing Nadine Osborne: firstname.lastname@example.org, by dropping a note into or making a call to Reception on our main number. This is just so I can ensure I choose the most appropriately sized room for the expected numbers. If you can’t attend on 3 July but would still be interesting in getting involved in setting up a PTFA, please could you also let Nadine know? That way I can get in touch with you to update you after the initial meeting.
I very much hope that lots of you will want to get involved.
With best wishes
