Enrichment
We believe that Sixth Form is not only a time for academic achievement but also a crucial stage for personal development and preparation for life beyond education. Our wide-ranging enrichment programme is designed to provide meaningful experiences that broaden perspectives, build essential life skills, and support students in becoming confident, well-rounded individuals.
A standout feature of our enrichment offer is the residential trip to London, which combines cultural, educational and career-focused experiences. Students visit world-renowned museums and galleries, enjoy a West End theatre production, and take part in a networking event hosted by a major employer in the city. This unique opportunity gives students insight into professional environments and helps build valuable connections for the future. There are also a variety of subject-specific trips, including a Geography fieldwork visit to the Lake District, where students apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, and a PE trip to the University of St Mark and St John, where students explore sports science in a university lab environment.
Every Sixth Form student also takes part in a work experience placement tailored to their interests and career aspirations. These placements offer students the chance to develop key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, independence and initiative, while gaining real insight into the world of work. Work experience is a vital part of helping students make informed decisions about their future and build confidence in professional settings.
In addition to trips and placements, students benefit from weekly timetabled enrichment sessions. These sessions provide a structured opportunity to develop new skills, explore personal interests and gain experiences beyond their academic studies. Options include Latin, where students delve into classical language and culture; coding, offering a valuable introduction to digital literacy and programming; and debating, where students learn to articulate ideas, think critically and engage with current issues. Practical life skills are also developed through activities such as cooking, DIY, and financial literacy, while sport and fitness options help support physical wellbeing. These sessions are designed to be engaging and empowering, to encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and develop the skills, confidence, and character they’ll need for life after Sixth Form.
