Art and Design (Photography) A Level

Subject: Photography

Hours taught per fortnight (KS5): 9

The KS5 Photography curriculum develops knowledge of visual communication and imagery through both traditional and digital media. Access to a large dark room and fully equipped studio space, as well as a modern computer suite with the full Adobe editing suite, allows students to work in a professional capacity. The opportunity to explore a range of photographic processes and techniques supports development of both practical and theoretical approaches. The subject explores a combination of critical and contextual approaches to themes which include portraiture, commercial photography, still-life photography, documentary photography, experimental imagery, editorial photography and landscape photography. The curriculum is enriched by a range of industry-based opportunities including visiting practitioners, trips, competitions and exhibitions.
