Studying At The Spires College

Counselling Service

The Spires College has a qualified counsellor. The counselling service is available to all students. Counselling provides a safe and confidential setting for students to explore any problems they may be experiencing. Commonly raised issues are relationships, exam stress, bereavement, anxiety, family problems, self-harm, drug or alcohol related issues and eating disorders but students can discuss anything that is causing them worry or concern.

Our Counsellor, Mrs Edwards, is available every day during term time. Students can make an appointment by speaking to Mrs Edwards in Room 1217 or they can email her.  Students can also make an appointment via their Head of Year or the Student Support Team.

The email address for our Student Counsellor is counsellor@thespirescollege.com. Emails are checked at least once a day on school days but are not checked at weekends or in the holidays.

During the first session the student and counsellor will get to know each other. The student can decide if they think counselling is for them and, at the end of the session, decide if they would like future appointments. The choice is always left to the student. Students are encouraged to tell their parents that they are seeing the Counsellor, but they don’t have to.

The counselling service works within the BACP Ethical Framework of Good Practice. Any safeguarding concerns will be referred to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
